Menu Plan Monday 3/18/13

Hopefully your calendar looks a bit more organized than this mess of ours, but without planning our menus that is a recipe for my family eating way to much fast food.  Menu planning allows me to plan meals around our busy schedule, keeping us on track budget and health wise.

Tuesday:  Baked Tacos

Wednesday:  Fresh Take Tilapia with Rice

Thursday:  Penne with Meatsauce and Garlic Bread

Friday:  Sushi at Home

Menu Plan Monday 12/3/12

The Holidays bring lots of fun, smiles and time spent with family, but boy are they hectic!  This week we'll have school programs, dinners out with family, and breakfast with Santa.  I need to make sure I have my menu ready or the drive thru's will look way to tempting.

Monday:  Grilled Chicken
Mac and Cheese
(believe it or not, it's 75 degrees in St. Louis today)

Tuesday: Sushi Night

Wednesday:  Cranberry Chicken with Egg Noodles

Thursday:  Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup

Friday:  Frozen Pizza
~kids home with sitter ;)

Roasted Potatoes

For my daughters school program they have asked that we bring in some cookies for after the show, but a tray of the snowman doughnuts may be super cute too.

Menu Plan Monday Week of 10/29/12

This may be a day early, but this week is so busy, if I don't make it now, I don't think it will be done.  My Community Helpings Co Op pickup is Monday evening, so we will be stocked full of healthy fruits and veggies to help fill out our menu.

Monday: (Co Op Pickup)
Fix Your Own Salad Bar
with fresh Romaine and Veggies

Tuesday:  (Trunk or Treat at Sissy's School)

Wednesday: (Halloween)
Baked Chicken
dscn0863

Thursday: (Baking 2 Baby Shower Cakes)
Spaghetti and Meatballs

Friday:  (Driving one of the Cakes to Kansas City)
Eating Out!

Saturday:  (Daddy's in Charge)
Chicken Nuggets with Mac and Cheese

Sunday:  (Driving back from KC)
Must Go's
Clean out the fridge and eat anything that Must Go.

I really hope we can stick to our plan.  It's been 2 weeks since I've made a real list and our eating habits have suffered.  Time to get back into the swing of things and hunker down for the winter ;)

Menu Plan Monday 10/1/12

As always, the calendar is pretty full this week.  Only way to keep my family eating at home is to plan ahead. I take an assessment Sunday evening of what needs to be used in the fridge and the pantry and build my menu around what we already have.  That saves us money and keeps us from throwing out spoiled food.  I also try to balance out my starches, not having all rice dishes planned for the week, which is my favorite.  Here is my menu plan for the week with pics and links!

Monday:  Salad Bar
(this has become the go to Monday Meal, after a busy weekend a salad is a nice change)

Tuesday:  Pasta Cheese Pie
Daddy is not an onion fan, so we'll be subbing in fresh spinach.

Wednesday:  Non-Balaya

Friday:  Sushi Night

Saturday:  Crockpot Chili

Sunday:  Must Go's
Cuz everything left in the fridge Must Go!

Dessert of the Week:  Crock Pot Applesauce
I'm getting a bushel of apples at the co op.  I'm so excited!

Menu Plan Monday 9/24/12

Planning a menu for the week helps me to keep focused on eating at home.  If there is no last minute decision making as to what to eat, we are much less likely to be tempted to grab a pizza or fast food.  We may not always stick to the plan, family life is all about flexibility, but it's a great place to start.

When planning your menu, think about what items you already have on hand.  You can't save money if you don't use the products you get at a great price.  Especially when it comes to produce.  I belong to an amazing Co Op which has locations all over the St. Louis Area.  It can't save us money if we let it rot in the fridge.

Monday:  Salad Bar - Fix Your Own Salads
Romaine from the Co op and other Veggies

Tuesday:  Chicken Florentine with Spinach from the Co Op

Wednesday:  Cube Steaks with Parsnip Potatoes
This is close, I'll post my own pic soon.

Thursday:  Sloppy Joe's with Homemade Pita Pockets
(looks like a fun recipe, wish me luck)

Friday:  Picnic in the Park
Tri-Township Park in Troy, Il, will be playing the Smurf's on a big screen under the stars.  It's such a fun night, so we'll be having dinner in the park!

Saturday:  Fried Rice

Sunday:  Must Go's
because everything left in the Fridge Must Go

Menu Plan Monday 9/17/12

Today is the pickup of our harvest Co Op Basket.  I always love Co Op days.  Not only do I get a great basket of fresh produce at an amazing price, but volunteering with this fun group of people is a good escape from mommyhood.  I love getting to greet and talk with so many interesting people from our community.  I've talked about the Community Helpings Co Op before.  If you live in the St. Louis Metro area, either side of the river, they have a location for you.  Check them out here.  The picture below is what comes in an average basket for $23.

My menu this week is of course centered around the great produce I'll be picking up.

Monday:  Fix your own Salad bar

Tuesday:  Italian Marinated Chicken on the Grill

Wednesday:  Macho Nachos

Thursday:  Roast Beef
Roasted Root Vegetables

Saturday:  Eating at the Italian Fest in Collinsville, IL
Will be getting all our favorites:  Baugna Caulda, Toasted Ravioli, and Salsilido

Sunday:  Must Go's
Cuz everything left in the fridge Must Go

Meal Plan Monday 9/10/12

I know it's been quite a while since I've posted a meal plan.  It's been crazy busy around the house and I need to get myself focused again.  Making this post actually does help me to keep things on track.  Thinking of what ingredients we have in the house at the beginning of the week and planning around really does make a huge difference.

Monday:  Chicken Baked Tacos with Mexican Rice

(I have chicken breasts in the crockpot with taco seasoning and chicken broth.  I'll shred them up and make the tacos, just like the recipe above.)

Wednesday:  BBQ Chicken Pizza
(We grilled some chicken on Sunday and had quite a bit left over.  Love repurposing meals!)

crockpot-mongolian-beef

Friday:  Sushi Night

Saturday:  Picnic Lunch at the SAFB Air Show

Sunday:  Chili
