When I was first told about this, I didn't believe it. But wow is it a time saver.
Place up to 4 ears of corn in the microwave, husks and all. Nuke for 10-14 minutes. You know if your microwave cooks fast or not. Cut the corn just above the last row of kernals, you sacrifice one row. Pinch and squeeze the pointed end of the corn. Be amazed when clean, shiny, silkless ears of corn slide right out!!!
Troubleshooting: If your corn doesn't slide out with some gentle coaxing, be sure you've cut above the curve of the bottom of the ear of corn. The other issue may be that you haven't cooked them long enough, give them another 2 minutes in the microwave.
I will admit, I grew up eating lots of fresh, picked that day corn. Boiling them with about 1/3 cup of sugar in the water is by far my favorite. But in a time crunch, this is amazing, and the fact of not having to shuck and de silk the corn.... FANTASTIC!
